Born in New England and raised in North Carolina, Kate Taylor’s dual musical heritage is one she shares with brothers James, Livingston, Hugh, and her late brother Alex. In this episode of “The Vineyard Scene”, Kate talks about spending summers on the island as a child, and brings us back to the Vineyard of the 60s and 70s with stories about the music scene past and present, and about setting up a life on the island.

What a treat! This was pure joy to watch. There’s so much info and personal film footage. Please know how much this kind of love-filled sharing means to fans of Kate and the Taylor family.
…I mean WOW! What an incredible clip.
(Ok supadupa kitty darting in the road welcoming Kate, Billy and Sam was too much–and then also, KitCat as a Fire Marshall cameo in the Tipi?? –that stole the show–but hey—it’s all a big warm purrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!)
xo

Dear Kate,
Been a fan of yours since the early 70’s when I came across some bootleg 8 tracks. I give you credit in throwing material things to the wayside and going back to basics. Your children probably cherish that time like no other. With all that I have, just basic things like seeing a hummingbird on my hibiscus makes my day. Your family timeline was so precious and it was grand of you to share it with us. With your Dad gone so often your Mom used music to pull the family together muchlike in Ireland and Scotland. Thanks, it was so enjoyable. Kev
These filmmakers are so talented… i can’t wait to see what else they come up with! Way to go Liz and Ken!!
what a great clip! I moved out to LA from Boston 12 years ago, and Kate’s storytelling of the North Shore and Islands made me homesick. I was wondering if it gets hot in the Tipi?
It doesn’t get too hot in the tipi, normally, because there’s a natural air flow, however during this shoot we did burn quite a bit of wood so that we’d have more lighting, and it did get quite hot!
Kate - I have always enjoyed listening to your and Taylor families music. It is great to see it being passed down to the next generation.
Thank You
Jimmy

I really enjoyed this. It reminded me of the summers my family and Ken’s family went camping together. Thank you for bringing back fond memories.
